General Information about Freeriding

Freeriding is a very young variation of alpine skiing mostly done offpiste. We are searching for the big powder slopes, steep and fast turns and cliff drops but also a gentle run can satisfy our desire for downhill. A requirement for riding offpiste is a solid skiing technique on standard slopes. If you are not sure or want to train your skills you can book a training directly here.

When riding offpiste, special equipment like avalanche transceivers, shovel and probe are indispensible as well as the knowledge how to use it. Freeriding is as every alpine sport connected with risks. Our guides are therefore well experienced and training in up to date technique. We work with certified UIAGM guides or national skiing teachers only to ensure you will have a perfect day outside in the snow!

Your day outside in the powder areas

A standard freeride day starts at 9 am and ends normally at 3 pm. Normally, this depends on your request and on the conditions. You can select different skill levels and modules always starting from basics up to expert levels. Depending on the conditions you will decide the program together with our guide to get the best out of the day.

You will have to take standard skiing clothes with you. The use of a helmet and avalanche rescue equipment is mandatory. You can rent the newest equipment from our freeride school. You can also rent freerideskis (also those fat boys 🙂 ) and poles. ABS avalanche airbage units are also available!

Requirements and skills

For riding offpiste, you have to be able to ski blue and red slopes without any problems. Parallel turning technique makes life much easier outside and is the basis to have fun during a freeride day. With this basis we can improve your skills up to expert freeride styles. For some of our offers you will have to hike up for about 15-30min to drop in to the best slopes.
